Room cleaning was a bit haphazard. They tried to clean on 2 occasions when we were in the room

1). We found a sock in the bed which must have been from a previous guest, this cast doubt on wether the room was cleaned properly. we brought it to the attention of the housekeeping manager who refunded the cost of our lunch. other than that the room was great, and the hotel was OK
2). Like most city centre hotles, theres no parking, I had to park in the Raddison hotel car park at a cost of £18 / night. John Lewis NCP is £12 a night but its a good 10min walk, no good if you have heavy luggage
3). We stayed on Friday night, the hotel is central to lots of bars which is ok until 3am when they all start empty, the noise went on until 4:30am, normally wouldnt bother me but we had our 2 yr old son with us.Dead central

Our room overlooked North Bridge and traffic noise was a problem, started around 6am.
Other than that the Hotel was excellent.

We had a lovely Indian meal in Khushi on Victoria Street near the Grassmarket- Bring your own bottle. Holyrood Palace well worth a visit. Bus from Edinburgh Airport only costs £5 return and stops at Waverley Station-you can pick up various tour buses there. Ghost tour worth a go and your get to see the underground vaults in Niddry Street. In all Edinburgh is a beautiful city.

The staff were very nice but the room left a lot to be desired. It was very small and narrow, it overlooked the hotels air-con ducts, the tiles in the bathroom were loose, the shower rail was held in place with sticky tape and the hair dryer started to melt whilest in use.

A must is Mary Kings close its a real insight into the way people used to live. Do the city of the dead tour at night- excellent stuff. For food I would recommend Frankensteins(even though the portions are on the small side) but its worth a vist at least.

This hotel was very expensive for the quality of the accommodation and food. The Reception area was very plush befitting of a 4* but the rest was of a 3* standard.

Bath leaked causing puddle on bathroom floor.
Sewage pipe outside room window, but I'm sure this would not be the case for every room, just the luck of the draw. Would have prefered a better view, however not everone can have the best views, and this did not spoil a very enjoyable stay.
Staff were friendly, helpful and curteous.

Had a great night at the City Vaults and next day at Edinburgh Zoo, both worth a visit.

Although we had paid well in advance, the Reservations Manager advised us on arrival that they had 'given our rooms away' and they had put us in their 'sister hotel'. How can any hotel take a booking and then tell you in an offhand manner that they have given your rooms away to other people!
